The Geographic Information Systems Task Force is a broad, multidisciplinary, collaborative enterprise that engages the University’s scientists, geologists, information specialists and others. Members of the Task Force possess expertise in geographic software, information technology, surveying, and global positioning systems. The Task Force synthesizes efforts in place in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, and the Schools of Engineering, Information Sciences, Law, and Medicine. Research, education, and training are the foundation of this enterprise. The Task Force is a service of the University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR).

UCSUR promotes a research agenda focused on the social and economic issues most relevant to our society, regional economic analysis and forecasting, the psychosocial impacts of adult development and aging, and environmental resource management. In addition, UCSUR maintains a permanent research infrastructure available to faculty and the community.
